It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default TeamTalk

First of all I will start with saying that this years version of temtalk has to be completely wrong. how can it be that when youre under 1-0 to your rival team at half time and you want to encourage your player that it is possible to win, nobody get boosted. NOBODY. Actually what happens is that some players wont react to what you say and wome players actually gets angry at you. This contradict to all reason of how a player should react to a manager who only wants to boost his players to get a win.
Then some of you would probably say that I have to say accordingly to how the players play.
This is what happens to me almost every game I play:

*Encourage when loosing or drawing og leading by 1 - nothing happens. players don't react and I usually loose my game. Or as it also happens; players are fumbled and gets frustrated or angry and I end up loosing.

*Pleased when players play well and leading - Players are pleased, but I end up loosing or drawing. My thery is that when you praise your players at half time, they relax and wont play at full maximum; hence I prefer encourage, but then the above problem happens almost everytime.

* Pleased when playing well drawing or loosing - Same as above

* Dissapionted when loosing and playing poorly - This almost never happens. I think that when a player plays poorly he shoud have a rate og 5 or lower. But that almost NEVER happens only when I'm really crap, but thats reare. So then I end up being dissapointed with players rating 6 and 7 and some players 8. then I try to be pleased with the best rating players and be dissapointed with the rest. Nothing happens. The best playing player is pleased but then playes poorly. The rest of the players gets agry beacouse og me being dissapointed or nothing gets noted from the players and I still cant get the scoring goal and win.

I would probably say that this happens almost 3 out of 4 matches I play. But the worst thing is that you cant encourage your players against your rivals without your players getting angry og fumbled and dosn't understand why I don't praise them. I want to win against my rival.

Anybody else with this problem or is it just me?

I just leave the Team Talks to my Asst Mgr. I feel it is too troublesome to figure this one out, especially for pre-match.

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I just leave it to my assistant as well.

Please try the following, before the game always say do it for the supporters, and again at half time. If this option isnt available at half time, tell them not to let their performance drop.

It seems to work well for me at West Ham

I'm generally fine with my team-talks. What I've discovered is that you can't always say what you want to say. For example; you're 0-0 at half time, and all your players are rated 7, with maybe one 8 in there somewhere. You want to keep them calm and be casual, encouraging or telling them they can win. But telling them you're thrilled tends to hugely improve their morale and get them banging in 3 in the next 45. The other thing is that if you have a team talk routine, always saying the same thing, your team won't pay any attention to you. So it's hard to find a way of being unpredictable and looking for the same affect at the same time, but it can be done. Just hope your team don't end up in the same situations over and over again!

First of all you have to get rid of your ideas as to how team talks worked in 06, they were to easy there.
Try giving them individual talks all the time, and try giving them as less as possible, this works out quite well. So only use when playing really good, or really bad, and then use the hard terms for the older guys, and the softer ones for the younger, might work.

Cheers, R.

i agree wif u arrug, the onli positive team talk i found is that at half time, if your whole team has rating7 except that odd 1 or 2 who get rating6, i put "haf faith in you" on those who get rating6, and the rest, well yea same problem as u, but usually that works wonders on the rating6s.

The teamtalk is horrible in 07,i mean youve just seen your team comeback from 3-0 down to win 4-3 and you tell them they was fantastic and then you see the effect and they all didnt seem to be listening then theres the scenario where you tell them not to let there performance drop and they all say"seemed confused" or "angered" stupid if you ask me,why would a player be angered by asking him not to let his performance drop. This teamtalk thing needs fixing in my opinion
