I win most of my home games but despite trying a more defensive tactic for away matches I usually get demolished vs. decent teams (I'm Espanyol, lost 0:6 to Real Madrid, 0:3 to Valencia)...

The problem is that it just seems like my team can't put together 2 passes before the other team wins the ball with dazzling speed so I'm not quite sure what I can do to stop them (I'm playing narrow, slow tempo and counter attack...)

Any ideas on how to do well away from home?

against good teams in away matches you might not want to play with slow tempo. Instead in away, make your tempo faster (no long build up play), play a bit more direct passes and dont close up all over but pull them in and then counter attack. Plus Take in account your opponents important players and you should do well.

That's what I do and it works pretty well after I have found good base formation and tactics. Also against weaker teams you might want to try fist with home tactics and see how it goes. Although agains teams like Real Madrid you can expect to lose. A bit mind games with opposing team's manager might give the edge to you.

How narrow do you play? I know Madrid play really wide, so if you play narrow they will murder you down the wings. This could be one of the problems. Personally id fo direct passing, faster tempo and you should get something on the break.

Also what sort of formation is it you using?
