It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

(Probably not the right sections however there is a point)

Hello all, I don't really post that much, so hello to everyone, I can say that there is some really good reading on here and hope to post more.

I little background, I have been playing the CM series since I can remember, when it evolved into FM never looked back. I only have access to the internet at work (for now) which is where I am now, I have recently moved into a new home so getting the internet there in the next few weeks.

Now I played FM06 over and over, got fm07 and loving it.

Scenario is I always play as Burnley fc, now after getting tips and printing the theroem off here, I finished 1st in the championship in season one.. no cheating/editing, the most high profile player I had was diego gavilian after selling Jon Harley for 1.2 mil to Norwich (its a lot of money, anyway thats enough me trying to convince everyone I didn't cheat..

the problem I have is that I think I was extremely lucky with my tactics, I still not understand the complete workings behind the tactics. Playing 442

I am currently in pre season, I have played spurs and everton and got trounced both times, having a tactic that worked for... during the championship, I started games with quite attacking tacts, except DC's who were defensive and direct. Anyway worked my fb up from normal to attacking my strikers, 1 midfielder defensive.

My team tacs were mainly focused on wide play always, with my defensive line pushed up and quick tempo, I found that if I went behind I would swap to slow and deep def line, more times than not I would pull it back, I was not winning many drew alot of the time, however I won more than I lost hence the position, about 20 games in I had conceded about 8 goals. I found that if I scored early and they equalised in the first half I found team talks to be crucial and made the difference, other than subbing where neccessary... Anyway led to me finishing in this position.

Now the problem I have is that I am now playing in the premiership with about 2.5 mil left to spend, I am looking at finding a way where I could plug the defence and minimalise the torrid time I am going to be facing, I know its only pre season however in the first year I won the majority against parma, monaco, marseille Ajax etc.

I am extremely confused as to a defensive tactic, the I must have palyed in season one was the best form of defence is attack... I played the prem boys Man u to be exact and was overcome with a 5-0, and they fielded a week string side...

Any tips of not conceding the goals against the top boys, I can work on the scoring part myself, just need a sound strategy to defending...

Anyone???

Thanks for reading my plight....

Global mentality means that all players have the same instructions
For example if you set the passing instruction to short, they will all make short passes. If you set the mentality to attacking, they will all push forward.
Probably best not to use this but give your players individual instructions which over-ride team ones.
