Background : I started Unemployed and got The Northern Irish second division team, Queen’s University Belfast to offer me a contract.
2007/08 Queen’s University Belfast - Northern Ireland Second Division
The Media prediction for the season was for us to finish 11th, whilst the board expected us to enjoy the experience of playing in the second division. There was no transfer funds at all, and my first impression of the squad, based on their stats was that 11th place would probably be about right, but once the games got started the team surprised me, and the team produced some really good players, like my star striker, who I only put in the team due to an injury to another player, but am I glad I did? Hell yeah seen as he scored 42 goals in 35 games. The only downside to Queen’s University Belfast are that the finances are awful, so that is my aim for next season, sort them out.
Position : 5th out of 12 Cup(s) : JJB Irish Cup (3rd Round)
Irish Antrim Cup (Quarter Final)
Irish Intermediate Cup (3rd Round)
Belfast Telegraph Intermediate Cup (Quarter Final)
County Antrim Shield (1st Round)
Between Seasons : Due to the ever declining finances, and the lack of the ability to actually make money from selling my players, I resigned from Queen’s University Belfast and was offered a contract from Scottish Third Division side, Montrose. So another season.....and another new country for me to try my hand at.
2008/09 Montrose FC - Scotland Third Division
The board seemed quite laid back with expectations, with the only challenge being to establish ourselves in the third division over the next two years, so it seemed that they was expecting us to not do very well, and the media agreed with them, an 8th place prediction from them, but one thing that was good, was the finances, and I even got some cash to play with. So I immediately asked for a parent club and was given Dundee United, which turned out to be a good thing because I managed to get four of there players in on loan, one of which was a decent striker who went on to score 39 goals in 29 games for me and definitely helped me to finish first in the Scottish Third Division and gain promotion.
Position : 1st out of 10 Cup(s) : CIS Insurance Cup (1st Round)
Scottish Challenge Cup (1st Round)
Scottish Cup (3rd Round)
2009/10 Montrose FC - Scotland Second Division
Oh well, another in which the media wrote us off before the season even began, this time they predicted a 9th place finish, whilst the board wanted us to avoid relegation. I started by claiming I believe we could stay up, but this brought me a big fat zero as far as funds were concerned, even though the finances where healthier than ever. Not to worry though, a few loan signings from my parent team and we was good to go, even managing eight league wins in a row during the season, which put us two points behind the league leaders. Nearing the end of the season though we witnessed a drop in form and a drop in the table to the eventual finishing spot of 5th place. We did what we set out to do, so not to worry, and to add to the survival, I was rewarded with a two year contract extension.
Position : 5th out of 10 Cup(s) : CIS Insurance Cup (1st Round)
Scottish Challenge Cup (2nd Round)
Scottish Cup (3rd Round)
Between Seasons : No sooner had I signed my new contract, when a few interesting Jobs came up on the jobs page, and with a desire to manage in England burning away in my mind, the time was officially right to resign from Montrose and venture across the border into England, and to AFC Telford United.
It's an annoying one isn't it really, SI shouldn't have it in the game really for the home nations. UK and Germany if I remember correctly are two countries that don't allow you to be feeder clubs.
Anyway good luck with your game I look forward to future updates.
Simon, do us and yourself a favour. Many of the guys who post here don't have English as their first language, so bastardisations like "propa" are both undesirable and against the House Rules.
