Can anyone tell me whether terminating a players loan contract, after all matches in the season are complete (to cut wage expenses), will harm my chances of signing that same player on loan next season? I havent been able to re-loan a player so far and was wondering why (apart from the player thinking hes to good for me).

Shouldn't think so. In fact if he now has your club listed as favourite he may be more likely to come back.

Of course if a player has done well then he get a higher squad status and not want (or be allowed) to come back.
