If the guy is predominantly right-footed, you'll want to try and force him to use his left foot.

It basically means that your player will stand in a certain place and in a certain way to try and encourage the opponent to go a certain way/use a certain foot.

For example, if you say for the opponents right winger "show onto right foot" whoever is defending against him during the match will look to position himself between the ball and the middle the pitch so that the easier option is to carry on down the wing. Thats a pretty poor description but I think you will get the point.

Would you not show a right winger onto his left foot so that he has to cut inside rather than get down and get a cross in on his right?

IRL not necessarily, at Arsenal last season teams were happy to let the wingers put crosses in all day as they felt bergkamp and Henry werent really a threat in the air... wheeras showing them insfield (and theerfore directing them at goal) meant that they were more likely to make a pass which could lead to a goal (if that makes sense

Usually yes but not necessarily all the time IMO but the above wasn't really meant as advice but rather as a description of how it would work.

i think in general though if u had a right winger who is right footed not either footed, you would show him on to his left foot so his crosses will be less effective.

Yes this is my understanding also, you show players on to their weaker foot. You could complicate this regarding player's attacking pace, ability to cut in etc but the tactical them is to show on to weaker foot since we are not necessarily talking about wingers but ANY player yo are wishing to apply this tactic to. Anyone tried this on a keeper?
