I'm managing FC Volendam and I just got a message that one side of my stadium is closed due lack of maintenance
I don't know if this was in one of the previous FM's, but I think it's a nice addition to the game.
The bad thing is that there are now only 600 people allowed to the matches. It will be a difficult financial time now

Definitely seen this in the past as well.

It's due to financial problems I'd say.

Iy happens most controversially (certainly in FM07, I haven't played 08 long enough to see) with Hampden Park in Scotland because the implementation wasn't sufficient to match the real life situation.

The stadium is owned by 3rd division (or 2nd division now, can't remember) Queen's Park - I have no idea what the financial arrangement is, but as it is the home of the national team the FA obviously pay Queen's Park for its use and upkeep etc, but in game Queen's Park always have huge debts and spiral into bankruptcy resulting in Hampden being reduced season on season to just a few thousand capacity!
