Here's 2 websites with contrasting views on the event. IhateRonaldo.com has the video of the events but a naive view but the guardian says Rooney should calm down. It's clear to me that it's 6 on one, half a dozen on the other. Both players were in the wrong. http://www.ihateronaldo.com/ http://football.guardian.co.uk/world...=ticker-118965 |

Cristiano Ronaldo tries his luck, Rooney should've just walked away and avoided the situation but no, Cristiano obviously said something to influence the referee so Wayne pushes him. A deserved sending off yes, Rooney shouldn't have stamped on the Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn't have cheated to get the referee on his side and Rooney shouldn't have reacted. Simple. As Rooney started it and finished the reaction, and thats all it was that got him sent off, not the foul, it was his fault. All the Portugal players did was go to the referee, I'm sure the referees are professional enough to ignore whatever crap flies their way at this tournament. Although both sides were wrong, why did Portugal win? Because they bent the rules in their favour, it was clever. Neither side can feel good for themselves though. Oh, and if you didn't realise already, I'm English, and half of what I'm saying probably doesn't make sense . | The last one was good, I admit
However, I want to say my oppinion on the matter. First of all I am big fan of Manchester United, so I like both Cristiano and Rooney. BUT I like the first one more. Both boys are young and skillful, although Ronaldo is much more faster, light-footed and technical. He is not as "sharp" as the English. Sometimes I get scared of Rooney, because he looks as if he wants to kick, bite and..many more like that I do not agree that Portugal won because they had bent the rules in their favour. The referee is not so stupid or dumb to trust Ronaldo's words or to grant his request for a non-existing foul! It was wrong of Rooney to push his team-mate, am I not right? It is not Portugese fault that Rooney is so aggressive! Even before the start of the World Cup people knew that he was going to get in some trouble! So, I say: I support Ronaldo and hate (a little bit) Rooney, because the last one said he was going to kill Ronaldo when they first meet for the trainings of Manchester. And if that's not rude, I don't know what is |

He said he went to ask for foul, NOT for red card. When Rooney pushed him after he went to the referee, the last one showed him the red colour. That's what I read few secs ago, and I strongly believe it to be true !
