I have been scanning for about 7 years with PS...Just noticed recently(PS7) that after each scanner appears.....via twain .....a small icon of sorts ( ? ) with the # 1 , next to it....appears in my upper left corner , of all my scans ...does not seem to affect any tools or operations..just wondering why this always appears,,,{not using layers, either}

cjogo, I'm not a 100% sure, but I remember our own Pecasaurus Rick making an observation on this point. Apparently (and Rick will correct me if I'm wrong) PS7 "numbers" your scans as it imports them into PS from your scanner. Call it "intuitive", but I can understand that if it's not something that you're accustomed to, one will wonder and question... and rightfully so.

Try View > Show > Slices
