Personally, I find the RoT system to be riddled with flaws - no matter how much I tweak, how long I give the team to settle into the formation and no matter what level of team I'm playig with. It often produces unattractive football, results can swing from the downright incredible to the horribly embarassing and possession stats are rarely consistent.
There are some cracking tips and cool insights in wwfan's Tactical Theorems posts, that's for sure, but as for the basis of the RoT tactic I'm afraid I just can't see the appeal beyond the logic on paper.
The tactics that work for me are often based less on highly logical and often near-mathematical factoring, but those that are more based on common sense from having watched a million football matches over the past 25 odd years, knowing the players within the game world and tailoring to suit opposition tactics and players on a case by case basis. With the onus always on trying to create the most attractive football with the players at hand.
I totally agree with u m8. People can get wrapped up with their systems moving sliders up a notch etc, and lose sight of the main purpose. It is a fact that these systems do NOT work. if u take over a club with 2 big donkeys up front then u hit high balls up to them, if u have slow defenders u play deep, play to ur strenghts as no sytems on moving sliders up 1 notch will not allow 2 big donkeys to turn into henry.
Rule of Two is a tactical theory that tries to define football manager tactics into base numbers. It is based on a notion that when a player has the ball, he should have two options.
Jaz what is the point of reading wwfan's tactical theorems and frameworks thread? I'm not being a tw@t just would like to no what benefits there is in me reading these.
