When you say successful what do you mean? Do you want to win the title, and don't mind if you win it by 1niling all the way or do you want your strikers to average 50 goals a season.
In previous versions of the game, I was hugely successful with 3 man strike forces, and found them to be very devastating. But in this present version, its still possible to do well, nonleagues 433 is a good example of a tactic that is doing well, but not scoring as many as he would have liked, because the Match Engine now needs a bit of tweaking.
I wouldn't suggest giving it up, but work on it. A 433 will only be successful if you give the 3 man strikeforce, simple basic instructions.
