It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Newcastle WILL be good...

Im in my first season with Newcatle, who have a fairly average squad. Im trying to play a short passing stye, slow build up play- basically trying to dominate possesion.

I realise Newcastle don't exactly have a squad of world beaters but in training im trying to build up their stats, so that technically they are all great ball players.

However I have tried loads of different combinations to try and improve their games but there stats are all decreaseing really badly.

I usually kepp the workload on medium, and try and keep ball control and attacking training fairly high; with no success.

Tactically im ok, I seemed to have created a tactic which is working

Just wondered if anyone could give me some training advice on how to help transform my newcastle team into a good passing side? (And please don't say buy good players because funding isn't exactly what you'd call healthy!)

Cheers

As I understand it training only makes significant changes to attributes for players under 24. For older players their stats will only change by a couple of points from their medium values no matter how intensive the training in a particular area.

Either you wait till your youngsters being trained in this way come through to the first team or clear out the unsuitable players (easier said than done I know) and buy new.

Few hints for NUFC:

Play a short passing and slow tempo style - your players aren't that tall and playing slow/short ensures you keep possession because they will take time with passes and play it along the floor.

Set your GK to short passing style and assign him to pass to a defender with the best technique/ball control (probably Taylor - give him slightly more creative freedom than your other defenders)) - this means he (GK) isn't hoofing long balls which come straight back to you.

Use Sibierski as "Target Man" and make sure you have Owens/Martins as "Run Onto Ball".

NUFC play best as a 442 but I personally play them as a 4-1-3-2 or a 4-1-4-1 against very strong sides.

If you are coming up against a strong attacking force play Narrow and Through the Middle.
Against weaker sides play Wide and Down Both Flanks.

Training is difficult to describe (esp. because I'm at work and can't see my training schedules) but you could try using ones made by other people as a way of learning their effects - fmdownloads have plenty (Matt's Training Package is one I used before I created my own - his is good but a bit too heavy for a season which includes euro games. Look at what he has done and lesson the overall intensity)

A good thing to take into account for training is knowing what NOT to train.

GK's will need strength, tactics, defending, set pieces, and goalkeeping as primary attributes - aerobic/attacking/shooting/ aren't as important, imo.

Centre backs will need strong defending/tactics/set pieces/strength training but won't need any gk, shooting, attacking training.

Fullbacks will need similar training to centre backs but lessen the defending training in favour of attacking and reduce strength training in favour of aerobics.

and so on.

When you've got your training sorted, make less intensive versions of them (i.e keep same proprtions of training on attributes but make sure they're all in the "Light" bar) and drop the training down to "Light" during very game-heavy periods around xmas or if you have euro games during the week.

If I have a 6 day gap between matches I prefer to fully rest the players involved in the match before and drop the subs/reserves down to Light.

I am playing in 3rd season with Newcastle playing "Wimbledon" tactics with Mido as target man. Working very well.

I'm also NUFC, finished 6th in the first season and now i'm 1th after 12 games. I also changed my formation often, because they didn't seem to work. Now i've got a solid formation which creates lots of chances. It's just a flat 4-4-2.

Newcastle got excellent forwards/midfielders. Owens, Martins are fab, Emre, Duff, N Zogbia, Parker, Given are fab as well. Taylor is also an exciting prospect. With good training, they certainly are title contenders.

Anymore tips for Newcastle?, short passing has helped a lot now getting 76% passing comp but i still cant win more then 2-3 games on the trott, this team is so fkn inconsistent

Must of restarted 12-15 seasons with these pillocks.

cant decide on mentality and creative freedom at the moment

im playing 10-13 for mentality depending on the opp, and i have little cf for the defence little for 1 mc (parker) and much for emre both wingers are on normal (10) and the fwd are on 6

im about out of ideas and going to give um with them soon, spent days trying to get them to work

Cheers guys, tips really helped, starting to dominate games possesion wise, Sibierski martins different class upfront. Just one more thing how do you make a s**t defence i.e bramble, carr, babyaro slightly more reliable e.g settings?
