It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Mental Attributes of Coaches

Do mental attributes of coaches matter at all? Has anybody noticed anything particularly bad happening with a coach that has only 1 in determination or motivation?

Can I ever be better off with a 4 starr coach with good mental attributes than with a 5 starr coach with very poor mental attributes?

not sure- i am not convinced 5 stars means five str taining- i think it just means he is a master at teaching defending for example.

However as u say if his determination is 1- then presumably he tells them how to tackle and if someone says "can u repeat that coach" (lol) he sats "oh no i cant be bothered - we arent gettin newhere". well u know wot i mean- and discipline too etc- he says do this and lets say.ooooo joey barton says no im not- then he doesnt do anything cus he has no control as he has awful discipline. in short i always want determined coaches discipline and motivation. as well as the specific coaching discipline

Well in the older versions of the game...I remember we'd look at determination as a good attribute for a coach to have, and motivation as something that an ass man would need as well.

Discipline and the rest of the attributes are helpful too. Determination probably though I won't know for sure helps with training improvements too. I'd hate to thing we have numbers in the game that have no direct relevance to the engine. Fitness coaches would logically need discipline and so would assmen.

I'd like to hear other peoples take on this as this is a rarely discussed point

I'd like to know from SI, frankly. Since I have no frackin' manual (Digital Download) I can't look there, but judging by the ambiguous and once-again thin 'tutorial', I would guess its not to be found in the manual either.

SI, get it together! If you need a technical writer I can volunteer a few hours a week. This kind of question shouldn't have to be asked.

I've yet to see any noticeable difference. The only things I care about are the stars.

I did a test, first I tried training where all my coaches with 1 in Discipline. Then with 20. I also edit my players professionalism to 1 and 20. The training session was balanced for everone - everything on medium.
The result ?
1. When the coach have 20 in "level of dicipline" and players on 20 professionalism; they trained hard and the stats kept a high value during the whole season.
2. When the coach have 1 in "level of dicipline" and players on 1 professionalism;
there level of training was low all season, noone stats was going up.
3. When the coach have 1 in "level of dicipline" and players on 20 professionalism;
Players level of training was good all season, some gained a few points here and there.
4. When the coach have 20 in "level of dicipline" and players on 1 professionalism;
alot of unhappy players about there training level, and there attributes were none consistant.

Conclusion: Professional players is what to look for if you want them to train hard

Nice test Joor
I Look at some of the real madrid and man untied coaches to see what I hould be getting from my coach.

It appears that it is Level of Discipline that is important. So I agree.

it also appears to me that Motivation is always high on good pysiotheripists.

Good test Joor :thup:
I never really looked at other stats then those that were required to achieve a five star training, but with those results I will be looking for other staff.

Does training players hard make them more proffesional?

What about the effects of determination & motivating?
