I would be more likely to fit a player into a system based on preferred moves than amend tactics. ie target man with 'plays with back to goal' rather than one without.

This is something until now I had not considered.
Why is it that lower down the leagues these preferred moves are non-existant?
For those into their 20th season etc, do the newgens still have preferred moves? I seem to recall that they didn't in FM2006.  | Id definetly play them to the preffered move as you will get that little bit extra from him.

Plays with back to goal sounds like Ian Rush...the kind of player that likes to hold up ball to and links up with other people. If his balance and agility are good then he'd be very good in the box I reckon.
At least your PPMs don't include "likes to argue"...I have 2 of them in my team.

If I'm using a system with a playmaker i tend to look for 'dictates tempo' in the preffered moves
