I have noticed sometimes my players - especially defensive midfielders are on the ball or just keep it way too long. What can I do?

Check that the creative freedom isn' set too low

Make sure players are near to him for him to pass to. Increase tempo also to make him play it a bit quicker maybe.

i have noticed a lot of my goals are conceded because of this. Also i am loosing possession or failing to intercept passes which leads to goals

Your player sounds useless or perhaps your other players around him aren't giving him any options to pass to.

I put my settings on my DM to hold up ball with no creative freedom.

He rarely gets caught in possession in fact I like it when he holds on the ball draws a defender and passes it off - opening the defence.
