He was named Der Kaiser (the emperor) because of his leading play in the center of the game. This was both in defense, but he used to steam up to even control attacks like a playmaker. He was the one who is said to have invented the role of playmaking sweeper (as opposed to the always-last-man-sweeper like used in the former italian clubs style of play).
You should check if that german amc dude is capable of playing at the whole centre of the pitch or has a subposition at SW.
