How important is positioning for a FB player? I have a DL who has 20 for tackling and concentration, however his marking is low at only 5 and his positioning is equally as bad at 7. Granted I am only in League One (just been promoted), but these stats seem too low for my liking, however he does perform consistently well and I have never had any problems with him. He has also been attracting interest from the likes of Newcastle, Portsmouth, West Brom and Hearts, so they must see something good in him.
They are starting to make highly inflated bids for him now, and I don't wish to loose him if his lack of marking and positioning will not undermine his overall ability, but all the guides I find seem to rate positioning as #1 stat to have.
Its extremely important. without good positioning or marking your player will do alot of ball watching and their opposing player will drop into space and if the ball goes to him he'll have plenty of time to setup up an attack or even have a shot.
