Thought I would share my experiance of moving clubs from England to Italy.
I was a succesful manager in England with Spurs, winning the FA cup, CL, and League and was bringing though a nice set of youngsters, when Inter came knocking on the door for me.
I decided to take the offer as my eyes lit up with the prospect of managing Adriano, Viera, Imbrahimovic etc
First season in I use my old Spurs tactics, a 442 diamond and im struggling really bad, hanging around 4th or 5th most of the season. It gets worse as the Arsenal job comes up and I declare an interest and the board offer me my resignation. I begged the board to be given more time and they accepted.
I tried a untested 433 formation and it worked a treat, i climbed to 3rd in the league (bout 30points behind the winners Roma) and was looking forward to next season. The board were still grumbling and the fans wanted me out.
I brought in Christiano Ronaldo and Kaka for a combined fee of 80m and this provided me with the lift to currently top the league and im in the semi's of the CL!
NOW the fans love me and the board have offered me 52k a week!!
Anyone else got tales of close calls of the dreaded sack??
I have had a few scrapes moslty because I cant help declaring interest in other jobs. Mostly I do it just to see if im regarded higher enough for other clubs. Or just to see people get the sack lol. Never had as much success as you following coming so close to the brink
