I'm currently in my second season and mid table in the Premiership in January but desperately need a striker. Got £4.5m to spend but the board want a high profile player so I'm allowed to go a bit higher than that, any recommendations?

First season: Just Guardiola and Frank Sinclair in at the start but I strengthened with Sibierski and Gary Speed in January. Sibierski scored four on his home debut. Only player out was Grant to Gretna for £170k.

Second season: In come Nastja Ceh, James Morrison, Rosenior, Radoslav Kovac, Craig Moore, Park Ji-Sung (loan) and Aliadiére (loan). Released a lot of dead wood like D. Moore, Malcolm, Pesch etc to help with the wage bill.

Only lost one in my last six (that was against Liverpool) and am in the League Cup Semi's (got Pompey) but we've only really started performing in this recent run, before that it was pretty frustrating.

I also signed Chevanton but he won't go on loan to my Belgian feeder club so I may have to sell him because he hasn't got a work permit.

erm your going to struggle to find a high profile player for 4.5 mil who wants to come to your club.. but you could try the likes of billy sharp for within that price.. i did purchase alexandre (internacional) for i think 2.9 mil and he keeps scoring!!

Congrats Tom Herron! Sounds like you're steering the rams into europe!!

Just started my 2nd season and the fixtures have been cruel, Liverpool (away) Spurs (home) and Arsenal (away) But hey, thats what we are in the prem for.

Steve Howard missing for the start of the season.. Disaster!

Signed: Aliadiere (loan), Enyeama, Billy Jones, Emra Tahrovic, Arajou, Ze Elias, Ball and tempramental wide man Kike Mateo

Out: Pesch, sutton, johnson.

Trying to get Lebohang Mokeona but no joy yet.

1st game at Liverpool... drew 1-1! Should of beat them. The game will be remembered as the day Giles 'better than John' Barnes became a MAN! He bossed the midfield after Guardiola limped off. UP THE RAMS!!

P.S drew some mob called Leicester in the leauge cup, they play in a stadium of crisps or summit, they are gonna get a drubbing!

It's not generally high profile players, just high profile for Derby. There are loads of players where whilst I'm making an offer, there's a note at the bottom saying that the board are pleased that I'm trying to sign high profile players such as this one.

hi

im in my second season with derby. mid table in the prem after half a season. won the championship on goal difference on the last day of the season.

in my first season i signed...

carlos marinelli (free from braga) - most assists in championship

ali daei - top goalscorer in the championship with 27, also won signing of the season

jose sosa - isnt setting the world alight but does a job in the middle of the park, 180k

in the prem ive brought in vanden borre (2.8m) whos got an av rating of 7.87 and didier digard (2m) whos also sorting me out at CB. the loans of fabio aurelio (liverpool) and albert luque (n'castle) have also helped alot.

up the rams!!!!

as i said earlier before christmas i was running high in 4th! i knew this was too good to be true and my bad run of form came along... (same as last year but this time i went down to 9th...)
just holding on to the bottom of the top lot!
about 7 points difference between me and 3rd so i mean europe is still on the books! only 9 games left... i just got past the 4 tough games of man utd, chelsea arsenal and liverpool all away! so from here on in its so easily sailing.
Will let you know if the mighty rams get back in europe!

An update of the rams premiership progress:

After 16 games of the 2nd season i'm currently 3rd!! Pride Park is the place to be, I've scored the most in the leauge but also conceded the most! Non-stop entertainment!!

Aliadiere has been a phenom! scored 12 in 14 leauge games and has forged a smashing partnership with Stevie 'the beast' Howard whos goals have dried up but he is the mayor of assit city!!

My starting line up currently looks like this:

GK - Enyeama
RB - Halford (paid a sum of 2.4m...jury is out)
CB - Nyatanga
CB - Araujo
LB - Ball
RW - Barnes
CM - Guardiola (still got it big time!)
CM - Ze Elias/Oakley
LM - Smith/Mateo
ST - Aliadiere
ST - Howard

A pretty youthful defence.

Highlights of the season so far: drawing 2-2 with Chelsea (should of won! had a last minute goal ruled out for non-existent offside) drawing at Anfield and Old Trafford. Gubbing Leicester 4-0 at their place, however i enjoyed a 4-3 win at fulham, showcasing all what is good in this Derby team, character and great quality!!!

Lowlights: Trying to "out football" Arsenal at the Emirates... lost 3-0 (lucky to get nil) and losing to Palace in the Carling Cup (thought i was going to wembley, ordered the suits and everything!)

I shall keep you posted on the rams march for europe!

P.S Aliadiere goes back to Arsenal in Jan, thats a worry.... a real worry!
