After many games playing with arsenal, and starting to find it too easy, I’ve decided to give Middlesbrough a go. My reasons; no real success in past, good young homegrown players/philosophy, should be significant challenge. My concerns; some really crappy players, extra crappy staff (would coaches with such terrible attributes even get work in real life? I wouldn’t hire them to look after the players kits!), terrible transfer budget etc etc. But all of this will surely add to the challenge!
Anyway, there don’t seem to be many posts on here or other sites about the Boro. Anybody played them much before? Can I expect a better transfer kitty next season? I’ve also heard that a board takeover is likely in 2nd or 3rd year. Any general tips or advice appreciated. Cheers in advance.
thanks for that marcftm. Are they crap because you don't like the team irl or because you've played a game of fm07 with them? Who else would you suggest then? I've also thought about trying man city for similar reasons to my first post
With regards to Man City, I usually play Liverpool but played a Man City game for the same reason. They're predicted 14th I think, but a few good signings (Enyeama, Skjelbred, Cardenas for me), they can be good UEFA cup challengers at least. They've got a fair defense with Dunne and Richards (and Distin depending on the update), fair midfield with Barton, Dabo and Hamann, and Samaras isn't a bad target man by any means.
Also, if you can do well for around 2 or 3 seasons, players like Sturridge and Miller should start to come good too.
Can't say I know too much about Boro though, other than the obvious stand-out players (Yakubu, Downing ect.)
