right, this team talk, along with "you can win tonight" i think may have to meanings.

Is it meant as a sort of, its okay guys, we can win tonight, we can win this.

or a rousing "COME ON!" sort of thing?

Pre-match i always took it to mean:
Lads, we're not favourites, but if you play like i know you can, we can win this.

Half-Time, i always see it as a moral boosting statement.
COME ON BOYS! WE CAN WIN THIS!!!

that could mean

oh my, that ways great!...why cant you play like that every week!

or

Why the hell cant you do that every week?

That's another open to interpreation as well. But looking at player reactions after teamtalks it seems that this is the second option.

All i know about team talks is that telling them you have faith in their ability will work wonders in alot of games.

I always thought it was a confidence-boosting/reassuring "we can win" type of thing.

Not that I've ever seen it actually boost any confidence, or reassure anyone of anything...
