Of course. Saying that though, in this day in age I can't see ANY transfer being ruled out due to rivalries if the money is good enough? (Albeit a very, very large amount)
Matt, it is not the money offered that would be the issue, it would be the acceptance of that transfered player by the fans of the new team, no matter how good the player was the fans would never ever accept them. It may sound strange but if you supported a team wich had a massive rivalry such as the clubs mentioned you would understand. I support AFC Wimbledon and never i a million years would we ever have a ex franchie player in our team no exceptions. I think SI have got this 100% correct. Passions run high when it comes to some teams

Funny that you should mention Stevie G, as they were talking about him last night on talksport , discussing all the options open to him before he signed his new Liverpool contract and both Presenters agreed that there was no way he would A, sign for United (due to being a Liverpool boy) B, United would get away with it as any Liverpool player would be disliked.......then again they do talk a lot of ***** on that station at times.

See Luis Figo. He was the fan's favourite at Barcelona, the fan's least wanted in Madrid, but when he signed for Real, he suddenly became their favourite. Becouse he was a great player and mostly becouse he could take the step to left the arch rival for them.
