right ok im with you now.... so the key is to get the right wing backs with the right balance of attack/ defend. Mentality being the key here??

Yes, its all about the right balance. But the shape of some formations limit what you can do and be solid. As each formation can have different disadvanteges etc.

I suppose there is no definative formation but what in your opinion is the most stable?

There is no answer, as each is different. When I made W-M on FM2005 I conceeded just 6 goals all season and went something like 3 years without loosing.

Just tried dropping the 2 AMCs into MCs with farrows, to offer a little more defensively. The ploy did give me more possession, but took a little a bit of the edge away from my sides attacking intentions, so i restored the normal allignment. The idea of forward arrows on the AMCs was a temptation i couldn't ignore, the thought of a front 5 terrorising the opposing backline was one worthy of a witness.

...Normally, i drop my FR/L to AMR/L, but to compensate for the forward running of the 2 AMCs, i've dropped them all the way back to MR/L, and decreased their attacking mentality.

...The ploy worked a treat , with Dunn and Forsell coming from deep at every opportunity. However, with every action theres a reaction, and inspite of my barrows on McSheffrey and Boyd Mwilla, the 2 didnt contribute as much defensively as i'd hoped. And at the same time, lost alot of their attacking verve.
