try using the " barca domination" tactic. everyone is raving about it and i agree with them! i took noriwch up using that tactic and you really do control and dominate possesion with this tactic.

This is the most interesting thread I have read and the one which gives me the most hope!

I have been tearing my hair out managing Celtic,trying absolutely everything and getting nowhere. I've basically been trying to recreate the shape and style of Celtic's play when at their best. For this to happen IRL the combinations of Nakamura and Wilson/Telfer and of Maloney/McGeady and Naylor are absolutely crucial.

Now the shape of my team is pretty good,including on the wings. my LB,RB,LM and RM are all positioning themselves where I want them to and are picking them up in good areas. However, my wingers inability to simply turn on the ball,advance and make a simple pass is ruining my tactic. I'm not even asking them to try to beat anyone,just move forward and pass and move.
Also, in my own experience I would have to agree that physical attributes are given too much emphasis, particularly aerially.

Is there hope post-patch or am I putting myself on,clutching at straws?

I think wingers will get better with the patch. The mentality slider should also become more sensitive, and that will help you set up your wingers.

As for the physical attributes... I don't know. People disagree about how important it is IRL. Personally I think it's a problem, but there are some entries in the patch fix list, that encourage me here as well.

Until the patch, you have to adopt to the engine: Don't tell you wingers always to run with the ball, if they can't do it. Alter their passing if they have low passing percentage.

If you want help there are plenty in this forum, and actually you can be succefull in lots of ways...

I've tried pretty much everything with the wingers particularly regarding passing. First of all i reasoned that because they were talented passers they could play direct passing and produce some killer assists. I then read Cleon's(i think) passing guide and decided to put my talented passers on short passing to produce 1 touch football. I tried this on fast tempo and slow temp to no avail.

Sad as it is to say, I have a picture of how i want my Celtic team to play and i just cant see the current match engine letting me play that way because of the wide midfielders. I am stubborn and i'll just wait till the patch and hopefully the patch will bring it all together for me (if not i'm screwed!)

In the meantime i'll start a new game and take ur advice by adopting my tactics to suit this particular match engine.
