Default Eddie Johnson, what's so special?

I am currently playing as everton on the 10th of aug weegie update.

I have bought

E.Johnson 2.3m
S.Naismith 750k
I.Akinfeev 10.5m
A.Bangura 1.7m

and sold
A.Van der Meyde 1.3m

and basically they all do the business except Johnson

the goal scoring records of my 4/5 strikers are

Vaughan 3(3)-3
E.Johnson 5(1)-0
A.Johnson 5(2)-3
McFadden 7(1)-2 (plays left wing usually)
Naismith 5(3)-4

basically. they've had games to show what theyre worth and johnson is lame. is there a way you HAVE to play him in order for him to be the goal-machine I've heard so much about?

I thought the same when i brought him for Leverkusen on an old game...he scored once in 12 games and I wasnt amused.

Then he seemed to burst into life and after that he was scoring regulary.

Give him a chance to settle and then give him a season. 5 games isnt long enough.

Skint

See here's the thing. I believe the game is built on systems. Eddie Johnson is the type of player that would work in my system. However, ANY type of player similar to him would work in my system.

John Carew, Vincenzo Iaquinta, or any other strong target man will work. If you are building a system that requires a strong target man, then don't pick up Alexandre Pato. It's not going to work to full effect.

Will Eddie Johnson work in any system? No. Not even Wayne Rooney works in every system. Build the system around Eddie Johnson and you'll have a player capable of scoring 20+ goals for you a season.

I mean I've had Fernando Morientes score 20+ goals a season. Build it correctly and it'll work. You don't need special players to win.

In terms of attributes, what's special about Eddie Johnson are the following.

- Finishing
- Heading
- Physical Attributes (16+)

Could he have better composure and off the ball? Of course. However, when you're building that initial team, he's cheap and he's well worth the price. He's a value pick.

Same Player for the same price = Steffan Iversen from Rosenberg, far better target man than Johnson. Iversen dosnt have the speed that Johnson has, but you dont want your Target man to run off with the ball, you want him to flick on, and power home goals. Iversen is also deadly from corners and Frees.

Dont know what hes like on the updates but he is quick , good in the air , and can finish on my games, which makes him a goalscorer for whichever team he plays for.

Fernando Morientes is a very good player capable of scoring 20+ goals a season, it's just Liverpool's style of play did not suit him.

iversen is technically the best TM in the game and for only 1mil and at only 31 (i think) he can play at the top for years to come...

will outplay johnson anyday...

plus the fact i take an instant dislike to johnson simply because of how he is IRL, the cocky little fecker

You have made some good points here. In my system at Atletico Madrid, Billy Sharp often scores more goals than Fernando Torres. So it is all about systems.
