Nesta is better than Kompany. Nesta will stay your first choice even in the 2009/10 season and in the 2010/11 season you might as well keep him around for the experience.

Surely you can still buy Kompany he's a great defender as well. But Nesta has been among the best in the world since he was like 23 there will be no need to "replace" him for a while yet.

Personally I prefer to buy Pique or Hobbs instead of Kompany as Kompany is more expensive during the early stages of the game.
