Okay, so I'm in need of a new challenge, and I've actually NEVER tried managing a country on any of the CM/FM versions I've owned, and I'm wondering why. I hear it has been fully revamped, so I want to try it out. The only questions that remain are who do I pick, and what countries do I select to be able to see players in?
As for the country itself, as I will be managing it from the offset, I'm ideally not wanting to be looking at a team that is going to beat the world from the start off. Ideally, they would have a large group of talented youngsters coming through, or clubs with very good youth facilities that would produce top draw regens but have either an aging or simply not all that great current crop, just waiting to be dropped!
My initial thought was Mexico, as they're current team is nothing special, but in their U20's team lurk three -10's. The attacking prospect of Andres Guadardo on the left wing, Giovanni Dos Santos on the right and Carlos Vela up front is pretty awesome, as well as the very good keeper in Ochoa who's coming up. Some of their other youngsters also look pretty nifty, I just wonder if without Marquez or someone equally good at the back they could ever become World Champions. So, I'm not 100% on Mexico, and open to your suggestions.
Had a look for the best country for youth academies, which unsurprisingly Brazil won by a landslide, but was pleasantly surprised to see that Mexico had the second best, with 3 clubs who had State of the Art Youth facilities + Youth Academy (Atlante, Atlas and Pumas) and 3 with Excellent Youth facilities + Youth Academy (Cruz Azul, Chivas and Pachuca). The plethora of talent they already have along with this looks to be the clincher.
Holland are good, but the only have Ajax with State of the Art, and Feyenoord with Excellent, which I'm sure you'll agree is quite a difference. Off I go it seems!
Nigeria - Have some great players such as Yakubu, Martins, Taiwo, Mikel, Yobo, and Obodo. Although not many good players come from Nigerian clubs, many come from clbs outside of Nigeria. I had a player (Mark Abdulazeez, nicknamed Mabby) who earnt a call up at 18y/o (admittidly, i was manager!). Not much is expected in the World Cup, and it is QUITE easy to get to the African Cup Of Nations, as African teams arent the best. Nigeria forever!!
Serbia have some great young players, as do Mexico.
You may also want to consider what to do if you get sacked. Personally I'd rather manage a domestic Dutch side rather than a Mexican one. The Mexican league has a funny structure, similar to the Brazilian one.
