Have you ever saved the game before a Cup Final or important match just incase you lose and then go back and replay it hoping to win???

I was tempted to do it when I lost on penalties (penalty bug) to Barca in the Champs League final after 3-3 draw. What a match!

But I resisted the temptation

not in fm2008 (although last season I could do it, I was 4 points behind promotion, with no other team in the middle, and last match was against this promotion team... he won the match, so I could not do anything in last game).

But I did it once in fm2007 (only once, to gain a final promotion, and because I was robbed :p). And in cm97/98 I did it dozens of times, but game lost its essence.

I have done it in the past but I can't handle the guilt! Better to get gubbed with dignity!

I did it when I was new to Football manager to learn usefull tactics and suchs things, today I never do it.

I have my own set of rules I put in place to overcome the deficiencies of the match engine. Started this with 07. Things that come into this are:

goals going in that missed (ie rolled down the outside of the net)
stupid offside decisions (ie the match engine does not know that if the ball hits an opponent if plays everyone on side)
more than 1 x 35 yarder screamer per game.
more than 1 goal scored by the ai that takes more 7 bounces of the opponent (unless I score 1 like it too, which is never)

The list is endless, and it takes a long tome to play some matches, ie up to 3 or 4 attempts, before you get one with no defective code in it. But, it keeps me happy :-)
