I'm nt sure quite how you guys would handle it if the ceiling caved in and destroyed the computer, and you had to replay 3 seasons of results because that's how ong it was since you took an off-site backup...

I do "cheat" if you like on my first FM game of each addition. I don't care so much about the results, I want to learn. I will replay matches against a top side, or one that plays a particularly difficult tactic over and over until I have good feel for it.
I think of this as a labratory exercise. I wouldn't call it "cheating", but it certainly is "artificial" as no manager would get to play Barcelona, Arsenal a German diamond or a 4-1-2-1-2 (ala Milan) 10 times in row to crack it for future. Its a great way to learn how different tactical systems work and to develop your own. Cheating?

Did it when i was Liverpool - meeting Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final again!!! Got the result i needed!!
Met Man U in the final and would have done it again, as could not have lived with myself if i lost. But didnt need it as won on pens.

Love some people who get up on the bandwagon whenever stuff like this happens.

I normally start a random game when I first get fm so I end up reloading to try and grasp the tactics, still an appalling manager anyway.

Used to do it a lot on fm06 in a fashion. Once I was at a point where I wanted to go to bed, would wait until I was losing and then quit the game.

Yeah, me too. And on the occasional draw against very weak opponents. And when important players get injured. And when a player I offered a contract to signs for someone else. And when a coach does the same (Damn you Maldini! :p ).
I once even reloaded a match I won against Milan, because at the same time Croatia failed to qualify for the world cup, I believe that was in CM01/02.

Actually, in FM08 I tend to reload much less than previously, I suppose that's because both of the teams I play with (Juventus and Opatija) have very low expectations, so I can afford to lose some matches and not get flack about it.

I occasionally do Especially I dominated a game yet failed to win. Not that often though.

However, I can say that I never reload knock-out games like semis or finals

i used to quite a bit when i played cm4 (my first installment) i was a bit younger and more naive back then , i haven't done it in any version since i don't think apart from once when some bug meant that it said I'd lost a penalty shoot-out i had just won, damn bug made me cheat (think it was 06, not sure). Definatly haven't done it on 07 or 08 and i don't plan to ever again.

If I lose 6-0 after being hammered.....no reload, if I lose a close game 1-0 no reload, if however I lose a game 1-0 where the shot count is Me:20+, Them:0-2, after their goalkeeper (belying his AWFUL stats) makes 8+ world class(fantastic save! He somehow got his fingertips to it!) saves I GENERALLY reload.

Now you may say whats the point idiot? Its because otherwise I can derive no joy from the game, this happens FAAAAAAAAAAR to often for my liking (the lose games you dominate- as in at LEAST 5 times a season). Don't even get me started on cup games against **** teams that have been given a lovely cup-boost to stats(or something) and thus are literally unbeatable. One of the things you notice when you reload is often that bullshit game you dominated and lost will result in you losing 9/10 times you replay it (often with you losing but dominating again and again and again). I'm not saying the game cheats per say but I am saying that some games seem AWFULLY hard to win regardless of who you are playing.
