I am currently managing gretna in the scottish premier..
i changed budgets from transfers to wages and back again a few times i still have a option to do this but even with my tansfer budget being 300 grand it now just gives a bit fat 0 as the only option on making the funds into wages..
Bear in mind that upp'ing your wage budget not only increases the overall weekly ammount available, but also increases the maximum figure the board will allow you to offer a player at each squad status level and as such increasing your wage budget if you have a large squad could possibly take away the majority of your transfer budget (since you're effectively taking a portion of a fixed ammount and spreading it our over the whole season).
As to whether what you've got is right or wrong, it's hard to tell with the info you've given. Any possibility you could post screenshots of your wages before and after you make the change?
i have a wage budget of 17 grand total spent on wages stands at 22 grand i sold a load of players so i could sign bosmans and increase the wage budget and now it wont let me.,... :o
Playing as Huddersfield (current game) I started with a wage budget of about £29k and a transfer budget of £150k (started the game allowing transfer budgets in the first window BTW). I spent about £45k bringing players in (leaving £105k), then found I was pushing the wage limit. I upp'ed my wage budget by £1k per week (reducing the transfer budget to £68k). Then got the chance to bring in Brett Ormerod for peanuts. Paid £8k for Ormerod and upped my wage budget by another £2k per week to allow me to cover his wages and have room for contract negotiations with existing players. This left me with a transfer budget of £8k and a wage budget of around £33k per week.
The figures quoted are from memory BTW but are at worst a pretty close estimate of what's gone on over the season.
I know this doesn't help you much, but at least it gives you something to compare to.
Sorry... I should have added that the first wage budget adjustment was very near the start of the season.... So the extra £1k per week had to be spread across the entire finaincial period (so costing me £40k off the transfer budget). The following £2k per week adjustment was near the end of the January transfer window (which is why the £2k per week adjustment only cost me £60k from the budget since it had to spread over a smaller time scale than the first adjustment).
i'm going to sound like an amateur here but ohh well, when i play as any team i go into the adjust budgets tab and sometimes it says transfer budget to wage budget or sometimes vicer versa, is there anyone that could tell me how to get it to say the one i want at any current time in the game please, it just seems to me that whatever it is at, at that current time, thats what u have to deal with!
Check the blog that covers budget adjustments, Lewis.
I can't remember offhnad how you change it as I've only moved money in one direction so far. The info you're looking for is definately in that blog though.
I raised my transfer budget from 0 to 125k, lowering my wage budget from 11.5k to 8.7k, at the beginning of the season. Now, I'm approaching the end of July not having spent one dime of it, everybody I've brought in has been on a free. I'm pushing the wage budget and have one future coming in that will max it. But I still need one backup at DR ... now it won't let me go the other way.
As a matter of fact, I've never had it let me do both in one season.
