I usually focus on improving my coaching and facilities first(the board ate usualy happy to help), but then go out and buy a lot of players during my first 2 seasons(I haven't actually lasted longer than this at any 1 team on 2008 yet,but used this method on 2007).
By the end of the first 2 seasons I usually find I have some decent youngsters who can be brought into my first team squad so I focus on buying only 1 or 2 players per season after that.

I try not to buy too many players. Usually I don't buy anyone before the January transfer window so that I can really see what parts of my team need development. Then in January I know what kind of players I am looking for and I've had the time to properly look for the best alternative.

I have to admit that sometimes in career games I tend to bring in new players (on Bosmans) and then offload some existing ones to maker room even though I don't necessarily need to do that. Most of these players are rotation players though.

Actually my last game in FM07 was with Italian Serie C/2 minnows Monopoli (yeah, I took over because of the name of the team/city ) and didn't buy anyone for 6 seasons. I managed to get a promotion every single year and was in the Europe before buying anyone. At that point I wanted to fight for Scudetto so I really was in the need of good striker. Although in the end my main strikers were all signed from free

I always try to improve the team as much as possible, either on short term and on long term. Especially long term i am minded at, i buy a lot of youth (for relatively little amounts of money), some won't make the first team but others make up for that greatly. At the bigger clubs i got massive u19 / reserve squads, mostly having players in them who are loaned out (reserves in particular, which ensures u19s to get plays in reserve team matches too).

I however do not buy the same players over and over again.

Personally I like to start with lower league teams that don't have any money at all.

I do enjoy looking for that free bargain here and there, but same as you I like to promote youngsters or players from the reserves.

It often works really well, too.

well after a wile in fm 08 90 % if the clubs is on
-10 milj so buying players often is no option, i can't even sign players on free transfer which has been the case in all my 7 clubs except one where i actually could get some players on bosman.

I tend to buy a lot, and in the past have bought for the sake of it. But now, I've brought in a lot of younger players who will be the backbone of my team plus there are some excellent up and coming youngsters (not regens) in my under 18's who if they keep on as they are will be automatic choices!

So, yeah, spent a lot - £100m in one season but now I'm in season 3 I'm keeping the money there, just in case I have to replace rather than because I want to replace.

It's easy to get caught up in the moment of replacing for the sake of it!

I must admit, that i to don't like spending money, My feeling is that i look for good young players shipping them to my feeder clubs or when i reckon a player comes available that will change my team, then i will spend

Eventually I will have almost certainly replaced the entire squad with new faces, but try to get all I can from players before moving them on for maximum profit. I like to sign young players who have resale value.
