I play a 4-1-2-1-2 formation (basically a 4-4-2 diamond. At home I use attacking short passing with a slow tempo and forward arrows on the full backs with sideways arrows on the strikers. Away I play the same system but with forward arrows on all the midfielders as well and I play more direct and counter attack. The formation is fairly successful but you will leak goals and is vulnerable to counter attacks especially down the wings. I'm not saying its the best formation by any means but by using it you can play 3 strikers and your team will play some damn good attacking football.
I have 3 different formations I play, depending on home / away / opposition.
But I find that the best formation for me has been the traditional 4-4-2… and team instructions vary depending on home / away / opposition.
Best place to check is the tactics and training forum there is plenty of information there and you most likely find every type of formation and tactics tried.
