I have a simple question. Do the settings on your manager actually affect the game in any material way? I am talking about your nationality, and also the languages you speak.

Theoretically, I would think the languages you speak would help you communicate with and have better relationships with particular players, or affect whether they will sign with you. Also, your knowledge of various countries obviously affects the scouting knowledge your team has.

So, the question is: can you change any of this stuff manually? Or does it even really matter to the game?

I ask because SI seems to have made a really weird decision to base your language and country knowledge on the country you're from, which makes no sense at all to me, given that people of all cultures live basically everywhere.

I'm American, so it arbitrarily decided that I know English and Spanish. Fine, but I don't speak Spanish (speak French, Korean, Chinese), and I live in China, so I have more knowledge of Asian leagues, and very little knowledge of Mexico, for example, which it assigned me.

Anyway, forget about me...I'm sure tons of people have similar issues w/r/t languages and. The point is: can you change this stuff? If not, does it affect the game in any way (if not, then who cares).

But if this stuff really affects the game, and the point is that I can put myself in the game as a manager, then why are these settings tied to your country? Or, why not just let us set this stuff up when we set up the manager profile?

Only way you can affect it is by chosing a second nationality.

Nationality affects your chances of international management of that country (and others) and FRED's coming through your team.

I would like to see complete freedom when setting up the manager profile; drop down boxes for languages spoken, level of each language etc.
