Year is 2018 (2018/2019 season) last year finally one of the big 4 fell out of the Prem. (Man Utd.) My issue is that they are still drawing 70-76K per match in the Championship. Yes they are a name team, and they are still in the EURO Cup, but still seems like a ton to be drawing per match for that level of play. Here is the history on finishes for Man Utd.

Ok question is, is this because they were so solid for so many years? Does anyone still think this is overkill?

Nahhh their team isn't that good, Lazio signed a 32 year old Rooney for 15.5 million Their other top star was signed by City (normally a top 4 team now). Anyway, only two players they lost, but most of their players are really bottom of the Premiership or upper Championship caliber players anyway.
I'd imagine that, of the glory supporters who flock to the winning team, when another team starts winning, some of them stick behind. And, since they were essentially a very solid top-six team (probably best compared to Liverpool at the moment), they'd keep most of their gate receipts. If they'd been in the bottom half for ten years, their gate receipts would probably have gone down.
Although yes, it does seem odd that they're still getting virtually full crowds in the Championship.

Kind of along the line I was thinking. I really wouldn't have a issue if they were drawing 60K in the Championship considering they are a EURO Cup team too, but them drawing 70K+ seems just over the top.
I think much of the problems relating to Man Utd going into decline eventually in the game is due to how the Glazier "debt" has been implemented and the financial models not realistically reflecting the income the club generates IRL.
Hazarding a guess though regarding the realism of the gate receipts and crowds, you only have to look back to the 70's when they dropped a division. They were still getting some of the highest crowds in the country.
Same could be said to some extent for Man City and Leeds Utd, who also both have a strong following and their gates did'nt drop much.
I imagine you would see the same thing of any "big" club in the same sort of circumstances really.

Ok good information here, thanks a ton Heath. My football knowledge really only goes back to the 90's, so thanks a ton.
