I totally agree. I came 6th with the Toon first season and scraped 4th the second. About 3 months before the and of the 2nd season, I was 6th and in the UEFA Cup quarters and the board weren't sure whether to offer me a new contract or not! It's just silly.

Anyway, I had a great end to the season and somehow scraped 4th by a single point with a UEFA Cup win and got a new contract. Now the board want me to win the EPL in the next two years!

Speaking as a Newcastle fan, is there anyone here who thinks a League Title in the next 4 years is a remotely realistic goal for Newcastle?

agreed. after getting leeds into prem after successive season, i got a takeover and was then told after finishing 15th that after two seasons i should be challenging for the title :eek:

Well on the new patch board expectations should be altered according to where your inherited team are in the league. i hardly believe it is fair that a team like southampton whom are predicted to finish 3rd at the beggining of the season should still have the board expectation of promotion if you become their manager in febuary and they are languising 23rd in the league, i suggest the new short term expectation should be 'to fight bravely against relegation'. this would mimic real life much more accurately. when alan pardew became the manager of charlton near the end of last season he was basically given the job of rebuilding the squad for their impending relegation to the championship. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE
