Just did a test where one of my central midfielder(Gattuso) played 3 games as Central defender - a position which he got 1 in. He got 7 in both first games and 8 in the 3rd. He made alot of interception and got 4-5 tackles each game.
Could be argued that Gattuso, being a DM, has most the attributes of a centre back anyway. IRL he is very tenacious, hard working and strong in the tackle.
Have you tried playing a guy like Reyes as a centre back?

I wouldn't say "pointless". A top player will do a good job in any position really. But you won't get the best out of him. Try a whole season with your centre-backs up front, and then tell me if it's pointless

..ofc there is no point in having a DC with zero shooting abilities up front
Well exactly. Like Top Gooner said, DM and CB are not so dis-similar. You're just moving Gatusso 10 yards further back basically. Midfielders tend to be more versatile than most other players, as being in the middle of the pitch you experience a whole load of action, rather than strikers just striking, and defenders just defending.

...And if he had played like a cripple, No doubt you'd complain it was 'unrealistic' that someone couldn't adjust to a similar position (like in real life).
Jeez.
i think you may end up better off playing centre backs up front in this game, may score more (oooo cheap shot)
but any way theres no reason a centreback wouldnt do well up front as long had they had the attributes needed, position obviously adds a little extra though, all star players are at least ten in all attributes so they would get a seven anywhere exept goal im guessing (played a striker in goal once, did the old injured keeper none on bench trick)
Recent injury crisis in my hotseat game led me to playing both Zat Knight and Gary Cahill upfront (Separately), both scored one on ones, something Agbonglahor has never done. A bit strange I guess. (Gary Cahill's goal was a peach, a dribble round the defender and a well placed shot).
