hi mates.. i can't get my skins running with patch 5.0.5 installed. everytime i change my skin from preferences the game says its loading then it freezes.help me

I have the exact same problem. I have checked the FAQs and posts on here and I am doing NOTHING WRONG. Any skin I download does this when I try to activate it. Can anyone help?

This is almost always a problem with badly installed skins.
When the game tries to load a skin it finds the various folders in the skin directory. It then looks in the folder you want to load for a .xml file by the same name as the skin.
If it cannot find that .xml file because it isn't there then the game freezes and dies.
In 99% of cases the problem is that there is an extra level of directory and the game only looks in the first level. For Example -
Wraparound skin would be a folder in your skin folder:
...skins/wraparound/
Within the wraparound folder there would be a .xml file called wraparound.xml so it would be:
...skins/wraparound/wraparound.xml
Sometimes when a .zip file is extracted it makes an extra folder level so you might get:
...skins/wraparound/wraparound/wraparound.xml
Now with that the game will open the first wrapround folder and then freeze.
So - Check all the skin folders to make sure there is no extra level of folder. If the metallic one is working and then you can't load any more then this is I would say your problem.

please help ive just downloaded a skin but when i started the game the backgrounds were there but no writing whatsoever. what have i done wrong??

Hmm I checked to see if the name was there twice but it wasn't and now when I try to go on FM 2005 the screen just goes black
