Cant Skin FM

Ive tried many different things yet i cannot skin my FM.

Ive tried all the guides on here but i cannot get the skins to work.

does anyone have any idiot proof guide to adding a skin?

In the Guide at the top of the page it says this:

02 - HOW TO ADD A SKIN

Most skins come in a .zip file. You must extract the file using winzip (which can be found at http://www.winzip.com) to:
C

Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2005\data\skins\.
This should add a folder with the title of the skin you want to use into C

Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2005\data\skins\.
If there is no folder for that skin then you have done something wrong and the skin will not work!

whenever i extract a skin it doesnt create its own file and so its clear im doing something wrong. only thing is i dont know what it is!

someone please help

What appears when you unzip the skin? If its a load of files then created a folder with the name of the skin and put the extracted files inside the folder and then put the folder into the data\skins folder

ive tried doing this but then all i get is the data loading screen for ages. thanks for the reply tho

I can't even see the skins - I have unzipped stone and stonesilver into the data/skins folder. The xml files (and all other data) sit in a folder with the identical name in the skins folder yet in FM I can only see Metallic, Metallic (Right) and Metallic (Trebuchet and Verdana) (a skin I installed a long time ago!).

Why the problems!?

Make sure you are puting the skins in data/skins/stone
NOT data/skins/stone.

You can try redownloading the skins.

One thing you can try is to create a new folder in your skins directory i.e. data/skins/newfolder.
Load up FM and see if the folder appears in the list of skins - though don't select it.

i can get the name of the skin to appear in the list, aurora, but then when i select it the screen just freezes.
