Default Silly question regarding Mac/Data updates...

Hey guys,

I've been playing CM/FM since 1999 and this is the first time I'm officially posting on these forums! It looks like a great place for resourceful information and overall good conversation regarding anything Football! I'm from Australia myself, but with Swedish background, fell in love with football at a very young age.

Now that the introductions are over, I have a few quick questions.
Firstly, regarding DATA UPDATES (not official ones). Where do I extract them on Macs? Up until now I've always used PCs and I've now bought myself a nice Macbook Pro, I want to start playing on the move.

Also, with the 8.0.1... I've read a few negative comments about it. What would be the better choice? Play 8.0 with the data update? Or play 8.0.1 with the data update?

And finally, (I promise, last one!) which data update would you guys recommend? Now this is only to keep me entertained till the official one comes out with the 8.0.2 release, so keep that in mind when recommending updates. (In other words, please don't tell me to wait till 802's released, I am more than aware it's coming out but I'm impatient and want to see what all the fuss is about!)

Thanks in advance
xD

On a Mac, files are in 2 locations, primarily:

[your application folder]

[user]/Documents/Sports Interactive

Have a look in these locations for the exact file path, you'll see the data folder fairly quickly.

On your second question: FM08 has introduced new complexity, which has made it a trickier game to play than previous editions. A lot of people are looking for the 8.0.2 patch because they (we) hope that some glaring issues will be resolved (shots-on-goal, superkeeper, etc).

Can't answer your third question, depends on what you're looking for. Some data updates concentrate on particular leagues, so if you have a particular interest, e.g. Sweden or Australia, see if there is an update concentrating on those countries.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried actually installing it in the /db/ folder, but it never ends up working. With the older FM's, and on PC's, all I used to do was replace all the files in the folder and every time I've done that it's come up with an error once I boot up FM.

Also, in regards to my preferred leagues, I only really play English, Spanish, French and Italian leagues. Swedish and Australian don't really interest me all that much :o)
