Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Am I not a real football manager? (Football lover, tactic bug hater)

I've been a huge fan of this game and of all Championship Managers. I've been waiting so unpacientely the FM07 to rock my world, to waste my nigh5ts and loose my job (again). I'm sorry to say but it's a huge dissappointment. I've deleted everything after 3 weeks of intensive play (And when I say 3 weeks, I mean at least 10 hours a day). So here's my story:
My first team in FM07 was (obviosly - see my name) Juventus Turin. A great team in Serie B thow. A pleasure to manage Del Piero, Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Buffon and the others. When I see for the first time the board expectation - surprise! - Respectable league position (please note that there was no deduction). C'mon man, if that's realism, I'll eat my hat. In real life (and I tell you this as a fan) The board wanted promotion despite -17 points. Anyway, knowing the team very well, I thought it wouldn't be too hard. Well I was wrong: Juventus - Modena 0-1, Bari - Juventus 2-1, Juventus - Treviso 0-0, Napoli - Juventus 2-0, Arezzo (c'moooon!!!!) - Juventus 3-1. Those were my results. Please note that I'm not an unexperienced manager. I've won Champions League with Newcastle UTD twice in 5 seasons and Premier League twice in 7 seasons with Millwall in FM2006 and so many more. At the half of the season, Juventus was the 15th with only 2 victories from 21 games. Ok, patience my friend, I'll start all over again. This time, I've picked my favourite team in Romania, Steaua Bucharest, I know it by heart, history, tactics...everything. Here, 2 surprises:
1. transfer budget 400.000 euros (Guys, since 1990, Steaua didn't have the budget under 1,5 mil. This year, they had at least 3,5 mil.)
2. I have two strikers called Cyril Thereau and...Cyril Thereau, with identical bios, identical atributes, identical age and birth date and place (He's the same person for Christ sake!). Despite this, one is valued at 750.000 euros and the other is only 150.000. Steaua is clearely the Chelsea of Romania, despite this, they have one of the lowest budget. I only remember the first result (0-5 with Rapid in the Supercup) and the place after 20 games: 14th, from 18 teams. The weakest position Steaua ever had in their history since 1947 was a 5th place, once!!! Don't worry, I know all about team talks, tactics and stuff. Then, it was the same with Newcastle UtD (Probably relegated if I was to stay 'till the end of the season), Atletico Madrid -- one of the best teams in the game, you know that, they probably have the most valuable players, I've got an amazing 12 games loosing streak and, after that, 2 draws and than other 2 loses, I quit just before the game with Real Madrid because I was terrified with the probable result, crushing defeat. I almost forgot: When I was at Steaua some club wanted Radoi, sent me an offer, i refused it and the player got all upset and requested the transfer. I allowed it anmd when I looked at his personal stats here's what I found: Looking forward to leaving the club / Doesn't want to leave the club / considering his options. So wch one do I take for granted? I know this post is huge, but I'm so frustrated. For me, there is no life beyond FM. I'm positive though that there is no tactic in the world that could bring me back the joy to play FM. Farewell FM07, welcome back FM06!

There's no ranting in the Tactics & Training Tips forum, it really off-topic...you could take this to the off-topic thread.
