• Flabarama's Extreme Tactic (Top of table with very weak sides instantly and you'll stay there all season) •
The other day I was down at my cousins and had absolutely nothing to do so I decided I would play Football Manager 2006 for a bit. I wanted a team of poor players and a good bit of money. Pompey was the perfect choice. After selling a lot of players and buying all the players I needed to strengthen the team, I decided to add a tactic to suit the team. 4-4-2 was the perfect formation for the team. I wanted to achieve at least mid-table with this squad, and after a few matches I realised I could challenge for the title. I was sitting on top with all games won, around seven games played. Which isn't bad for Pompey is it
Once I saw how well I was doing I was definitely going to share this on the forums with others. Hopefully it'll bring you the same success as I did with this tactic.
Team Instructions
All my players would be no more than normal mentality and low closing down. I only put one player on attacking mentality and high closing down and that was one of my forwards. That forward must be fast as you don't want a slow player closing down players for obvious reasons. I play with high tempo and a narrow formation, direct passing to get the ball up the pitch and away from your goal. I played down the flanks to stop the ball crossing the middle of the park as other midfield players would destroy my ones. I had my wingers on zonal marking and low closing down, with forward runs high. They would get the quick ball down the line aswell as the forwards and destroy the opposition's defence.
Defence
First thing I had in mind was to push the defence high up the pitch to have a greater chance of conceding less goals. Two quality centre backs are needed, good positioning, concentration, tackling, bravery, jumping, heading, marking, strength, stamina and anticipation are very important to have a good solid defence that won't concede much goals. The centre backs need to man mark the opposition's forwards aswell.
Maxwell and Vanden Borre were excellent for the full back positions. They need to man mark the wingers.
Attack
I usually go with one tall, strong, forward who has very good finishing. The first player that came to my head was Llorente. He was perfect. The other forward would have to be a good finisher, fast, who could put pressure on the opposition's defence by making them lose the ball very easily and quick. Fred and Eddie Johnson, Cesar Delgado are perfect, I had Eddie Johnson and Delgado. Eddie Johnson could play in Llorentes role if he was tired, injured etc. too so this was a bonus. Quick balls come down the wing so the wingers need to be fast, good crossers of the ball.
I don't have any results, league table screenshots etc. because I don't have the game. My cousin had to send me the tactic but couldn't send the game as it would take a very long time to receive the game file as he has only dial-up Sorry.
New game started, West Ham. Don't have anymore time to play it before I go away tonight but so far it has been very very successful. Played 7 games and have won all of them including a 4-0 win to Arsenal  I've updated the tactic also and is available to download at www.fmdownloads.net (It's a lot better, you'll see!!) I'm top of the table, only 3 goals conceded. Here are some screenshots:
Closed the other thread as I wanted to start a fresh one as I had added some excellent changes to the tactic. It´s a great tactic, best one I ever used, look at my results, league table etc. and I was only managing a ery poor West Ham side.
Try it out and come back with me on how you did, it won´t fail.

well I won't get into an argument about the quality of west ham. I'm just curious how the tactic fairs outside of top flight competition.
If I have a chance I'll give it a whirl myself. I, like most here, are skeptical of proclimations of greatness. Most tactics are too team specific to be great across the board.
No offence is meant at all, the results with West Ham are impressive indeed

Hi Mate, tried your tactic last night with Forest. So Fa so good. I'm in the championship now but last season it went downhill towards the end and i couldn't win at all. I've brought some new players and changed things but i lost a friendly to Brighton using a 442 formation i had.
So i used your tactic, first 4 games - Won 3 Lost 1.
I know it's only a few games but you can clearly see the difference in style of play. I create a lot more chances, and score more too.
I lost my first game 3-2 to West Ham(although i got inpatience and set it to all out attack which is why they got the winner).
Then i beat QPR 4-1, Portsmouth 3-2(would of been 3-0 but i made crap Subs), and then i beat someone else 2-0.
Which i think is good. However, whenever i go on good runs it always always comes to an end somehow! But for now it seems to be a good start.
By the way, i'm loving how you've set the corners up! Leaving one player back, i swapped it so that one of my strikers was the one dropping back beacuse he had better finishing, heading etc. Very clever corners though.
Well Done i'd say.
