I don't usually like to specify too many things, such as crossing aim, as I feel it will reduce options for the players, but I recently noticed that when either my, or the opposition's players were crossing to the back post this often resulted in a tap in for the opposite winger or one of the STs.
This was happening for me when I wasn't specifying crossing aim, but I since changed my wingers' instructions to cross to far post and this has given me more goals because of it. The best thing about it is that usually a far post cross will make a tap in for some one, so even if you have a winger that can't hit a donkey's arse with a banjo, he should bag a few this way as well as creating plenty himself.
Give it a try, it's worked for both my Man Utd and Wycombe teams, so it doesn't require a good quality crosser
You know, now that you mention it, although I haven't explicitly set crosses to the far post, it is almost always my far winger or forward latching onto the ball at the far post to score or find a great chance.
I'll be sure to try this setting out, especially for fullbacks who have much less to aim at with their crosses as it is. Wingers can often find an unmarked man from the byline, but almost the entirety of crosses from the fullbacks are aimless lumps into the penalty area.

and for those with succes how many strikers do you have?
I don't have crossing on 'often' for anyone, so as to keep more possession and cross when there's a better chance on.
I might try specifying crossing to the back post from my full backs too, seeing as the wingers have been putting in good crosses from deep on a few occasions.
These are my instructions for my full backs, at home:

I have 2 strikers, but for far post crossing it doesn't really matter.
ive tried this, and am still using it, as i feel its the most effective place you can cross the ball from the wingers position (i should know - i have played in that position for years). it seems crosses are a lot more dangerous/effective when crossed towards the back post, because if its a poor cross it can become a shot, or if lands at the centre of the box because of a misjudged cross, your central midfielders are there to smash it in. \o/
I just tried this for the first time ... i've got AML - Guardado, AMR - Robben .. FBs - Ratinho/Marcelo ... made my FBs do forward runs often and made all they're cross aims to far post .. beat Newcastle 4-0. Looking forward to trying it in my next game as well.
