Default Aston Villa XI -

Well im currently in my first season in charge of Aston villa and i am wondering which centre back i can purchase for 5mil.

I've played around 14 prem games and 3 carling cup games and im doing pretty well in the league ( 6th place )

Prem - PLD 14 - W7 D3 L4 - 6th Place

Carling Cup - PLD 3 - W2 L1 - Knocked out

Also i need some advice as i cannot pick up points on my travels and i have won one away game all season with that being againest relagation battlers Fulham

Christopher Samba from Blackburn, him and Davies are great together!

A CB - try Samba like said above. Mirel Radoi is awesome and will cost about 2M or so. Felipe (Udinese) might be available for that much still. Though iirc, his value goes up halfway through the season.

If you can pick up points on your travel, have a look at what kind of games you're having. Whether you're creating a lot of chances and not scoring. Or if the other team gets too many chances against you and a lot of possession etc. Dont put too much pressure on your players to win the match when the opponent is as good as you or better than you. But demand victory when you're playing a smaller team. Tell some of the players separately than you faith in them (if their morale is low) or that you expect a performance (if its high).

Saying all that, I find the best way to play away from home is on the counter-attack for some reason. I usually pack my midfield with 2 DM, CM, LM & RM and play 1 upfront when I go to a tough team. I sit deep so I dont get caught out by their pace and have the 2 wide players run up in support of the lone striker. The 3 usually manage to score 1 or 2 between them. The problem with this is that if the other team gets their tactics right, you can get a real hiding. If you invite them to keep shooting at you on a bad day (for you) everything the hit would fly in. Its got its pros and cons. But it works for me most of the time.

If your problem is creating a lot of chances but not converting, tell the team to relax a little and then have them go out there and attack a little more than usual. When you score 1, then revert to the normal. Just play around with the settings. There's no set way that you can start winning away or anything like that. Just depends on what area you're suffering the most.
