Start of the game you shouldnt have to pay 40M pounds for him dude. You overpaid. I always manage to get him for around 20-22M when the game starts. He gets more expensive though if you try even in Jan. From then on you can look at anything upto 35M. But if you unsettle him you can again get it down to about 20M odd. 40M is too much.

Managed to pick him up for 17M in the Jan with my Liverpool side. Unsettled him by bidding many times with low ammounts. Also lucky that Man City are low in league. Since joining his stats have increased so much.

I paid £35 million for him at start of 4th season - was trying to get him for 2 years and at one point City wanted £75 million for him !! City are flying high in my game though so was difficult to unsettle him.
