Since 07 I've always looked for 17 year olds and under, since if they've been at your club for 3 years before they turn 21 then they count as club homegrown. I've just signed a Brazilian kid though whose birthday was during the transfer window in January, so he literally signed on his 18th.
After 3 years, will he count as homegrown? Also, does a leap year have any effect? Since for nationalities its just 365* X number of years, will he complete his 'third year' the day before he turns 21 then?

Players homegrown when signed on 18th birthday? Post #2
Without the leap year, i'd have to guess no, because it says three years at the club BEFORE the age of 21, and he would reach 3 at the age of 21 (unless again it's by number of days, in which case he'd reach 1095 days on the day before his 21st).
With the leap year, i'd guess yes, because he would definitely reach 1095 days before his 21st birthday.

Ah but I'm only messing about on a Vaduz game until the patch + data update comes out when I can start with San Marino. Good fun trying to get random South Americans Liechtenstein passports.

Assuming I can last that long... I'll probably still be perenially third in the Swiss Challenge league by then... I'm looking forward to finally cracking second, so that I can lose the playoff against a vastly superior funded professional team. Fun.
Edmilson - Brazilian regen with a killer afro, born 26.1.1993, joined Vaduz 26.1.2011. With 2012 being a leap year, he should pass 1095 days at the club on 25.1.2014, a day before his 21st birthday. (And also become eligable for a Liechtenstein EU passport on 25.1.2016)
Since Vaduz are automatically entered in Leichtenstein's UEFA Cup qualifying spot regardless of performance, so long as I'm still at the club to pick the team he *should* count as a homegrown youth player for the first round of qualifying matches at the start of the 2014/15 season, when I'll no doubt be aiming to challenge for the Challenge League title having come in third place by a point...
