Default SI will never fix this game

No way will they - if a patch is out as soon as tomorrow, as promised, there's no way they will have been able to repair the stupidity of this game. It's wrong in almost every area.

Training - no longer has any effect whatsoever on player attributes

Match Engine - conference players scoring 40 yarders regularly, every time you score the other team scores 5 minutes later, players not closing down, players not doing as instructed

Morale - completely and utterly screwed, impossible to get everyone even reasonably happy unless you win 10 on the trot, then after 1 defeat 3/4 of the team are back to very poor

Transfers - what a joke! Aaron Lennon to Arsenal £37m, Vassell to Celtic £20m, Ross to Bolton £27m - need I say more?

Board confidence - just stupid, if you won the FA cup with Sutton Utd they'd sack you for not being on course with their "5 year plan"

Coaches - what effect do coaches have on the players? You spend half an hour getting 7 star coaches and nothing happens. I don't think any of it makes any difference to how your team performs.

Team talks - quite simply they have no effect, and if you say what the match engine doesn't like your team will get thrashed no matter what. Heaven forbid you ever tell your players they had a "sensational" game, they next match they will lose 5-0 whatever happens.

Penalty shoot-outs - only had two but on both occasions only one penalty was scored in 10!!!

Substitutions - how come 50% of the time when you make a substitution the other team scores before you can get your players on! And sometimes players don't come on until 10 minutes after you've made the substitution.

Speed - they said it would be faster but it's slower than FM07. Saving a game may be faster, but what use is that when everything else is slower? Some matches crawl along even on high speed.

Not one part of this game has been improved and SI appear to have spent their entire budget and manpower on stupid things like "pretend player faces", as if anyone gives a ****??

They'll never patch up this garbage, unless you give them another two months. I think we should be offered a refund if we return the game to SI, because not only is it unplayable, but SI have been grossly negligent in their testing procedures.

some points are bit over-exaggerated...but I see where u r coming from.

I think we should reserve our opinions till the coming patch is out. If the game is still full of bugs after the patch, I personally would just completely forget about fm and get on with other games

Some of the previous versions have had several patches. I hope that the full 8.0.1 patch will iron out most of the issues. If it doesn't then they'll work on 8.0.2.

Yeah FM07 patch worked a treat, but the game was nowhere near as bad as this one.

The game is not unplayable.
End of.

SI make the game to cater for the demands and the benefits of the majority of the market, not for an individual; while FaceGen might be rubbish to you, for many others it's a great quirky and potentially sentimental feature.

For training; do you have any proof of this? If a player reaches their PA then they will not improve in training, but their ability will fluctuate over time. With good coaches, up until the age of about 30, players will continue to reach their PA, and after this point training is essential for maintaining stats and extending the playing career of players.

In reality, with ludicrous transfer fees going on all the time, how can we really know what is right? Is Darren Bent worth more than Thierry Henry. Look at how transfer fees have increased since the early 1990s and you will see how sharp the continual increase really is.

As for morale, it is really an essential part of football. Look at Arsenal at the moment; their form is based alot on team spirit. Look at the huddles at the end of the game, and the constant media speculation of a colapse at the first sign of defeat.

Team Talks certainly do have an effect, and I really don't see how you can say otherwise. If you win a game comfortably that you were expected to win beforehand, calling the team sensational is going to do wonders for moral, but unless the individual mental stats are there, players will no doubt become slack. Reserve the extremes for extreme cases.

Not really much more to say, except that you also cannot blame the game for your own bad luck; do you really believe the game would be programmed to score a goal when you click to make a transfer?

This post was made on behalf of the many, many people who are getting sick and tired of petty criticisms by people who believe that the game is screwing them over because of a few bad results and slight bugs that cannot be denied or ignored, but do certainly not make the game unplayable, or even very much less wonderful, in my very honest own personal opinion.

Some of the tripe I read on this forum...

Sure the bugs are annoying but with the second beta patch most are now gone.

Personally, I love the facegen and as it is written by a seperate software company, I do not think that those who are involved in coding this game had as much to do with it as you think.

It seems to be the 'In Thing' to beat on SI but they are still producing the most superior management sim out there, by a country mile.

Just remember though, you are playing a computer game. I think you need to get some Uefa coaching badges and go for a real life managers job.

I hope SI take note and next year utilize the huge swathe of players who would be happy to test the next version, not only because I too would like a bugless release of FM but also so I do not have to read the bandwagoneering tripe on this board.

Absolute rubbish. There are so many people screaming about this terrible game its untrue - open your eyes!! If the game was so perfect how come 2 beta patches have been scrambled out whilst SI work day and night on a proper patch - it's desperate.

And for the record, I adored FM07 and played it constantly, and this game has been ruined by comparison.

You defend the game by saying stupid things like Is Darren Bent worth more than Henry. Are you thick?? Henry is 30 years old, player values depreciate as they get older. Yet they went for the same price anyway!! And how does that justify De Rossi going to Bolton for £27 million or Vassell for Celtic for £20m - it's just plain stupid!! The fact that you defend it makes you look an idiot.

Then on 8.0.3, 8.0.4, 8.0.5, 8.0.6.....

This game is annoying as hell. I expect to be able to get some enjoyment out of the game after a month of purchase.

No wonder the game is garbage, they spend 3 months working on patches to repair they only have 8 months left to get on with the next installment. Still, it helps if you don't bother testing it.

I really cant believe the utter garbage some of the people on these forums are capable of communicate.
Me and my mates are currently enjoying a 3-way network game, and we are having a blast. Sure there are some bugs, but calling it unplayable is a load of rubbish.

SI are doing people the service of releasing patches to make the game run even smoother, and all they get is stick from the community.

If you dont like FM08 then dont play it. You were given the demo so you could test it for yourself. If you didn't like it, why did you even buy it?
