personnaly im still not convinced its fixed with the beta patch. My players never seem to want to make the final tackle no matter what setting i place closing down on, with my tackling set to normal. its really getting on my nerves.

I would be grateful for your thoughts and any advice.

I'd also like to add that the oppisition seems fine and makes there tackles fine, even in my half.

I'm playing 07 until the official patch comes out, but gave a go on the beta and it seems pretty much fixed to me.

This just occured to me, how do i check if the patch has installed properly or not?

Can you post a screenie of your tactics? Not the formation, but the "Team Instructions" screen.

Players actually closing down is ok now, but the problem however is my players don't tackle enough. Strange really, if you look on match stats, you'll see plenty of "tackles made/won" but when the highlights come on and I'm actually watching the action, very few tackles ever occur, it's like my defenders are dancing with the strikers.

Yeah that sounds exactly right, as if the players are scared to tackle. any one got any ideas why this is and how to solve it?

Yes I see the same. If you just look at the game stats everything appears to be OK, but the game action is anything but. My defenders stay close with the player until they get into a dangerous zone, then close down and he usually gets a good shot away by that time.

Is the closing down issue a confirmed issue by SI, or is it still possible that it is a change in the game when it comes to tactics and gameplay? Maybe they meant it to be this way?

Also does anyone else find that both there CMS go to close down the same player all the time?

Go to Options > Game Status and it should say Version: 8.0.1 if the patch is installed
