I had the same issue. SI clearly didn't pay much attention to vista compatibility, as the installation wizard is also incompatible with Aero.

I would be VERY dissapointed if FM08 wouldn't run without ANY kind of problems WHATSOEVER on Vista. It's a brand new game so there's no excuse that a brand new pc with a new-ish and common operating system like Vista shouldn't run on it. I will wait for the full game to come out, but I expect that I won't have to make any adjustments just because my system is up-to-date. It's like releasing a game for DOS in 2007...

Old Git & Francis Cole -
We think we've worked out what might be causing this for some users and it shouldn't affect the full version of the game, just the demo, so apologies in advance if you're having to take the long route to launching the game.

Celtic_Jed -
We have joined the "Games For Windows" scheme and to comply with the submission process you're not allowed to create shortcut icons on the Desktop for Microsoft Windows Vista. I thought it was strange too, although I can understand the reasoning behind it as they wish to promote Games Explorer and develop some standard expected behaviour for games.

RubenJ -
We've actually paid an awful lot of attention to Vista compatibility. We would not have passed the "Games For Windows" certification and submission process had we not.

We use third-party installer software. It is compatible with Vista but disables the Aero theme during the install process. This is necessary for the particular version of the install software that we use, and going forward hopefully they will release a new version which means you don't need to have Aero disabled.

If you're wondering why we didn't use alternative software for the installer, it's because this particular version allows us to do a dual PC and Mac installation on the same CD.

WillemII@Tilburg -
On our tests here internally, at SEGA and over at Microsoft as part of the submission process, we passed all the necessary requirements for running on the 64-bit Vista operating system, so you should be fine.

Game runs flawlessly on my Vista machines. Both the full 2007 and the 2008 demo.

Yeah other than not getting a desktop shortcut on the demo it works fine.

I dont use UAC on mine though but assume once you tell Vista 13 times you want to install ok it would be fine.
