Now I never listen to the Assistant Manager (Torbjorn Nilsson).
Not since I won a game, got him to do the Team Talk and he said he was "dissapointed". I had a Mutiny on my hands with players saying Team Talks were to harsh..
However, I do check what his Team Talks are now just for a laugh and then usually change it myself. I have been on an 8 match unbeaten stretch and his talks have been "well done", "dissapointed", etc etc.
However, I have just lost to Arsenal 3-0, the first loss in 9 games and I thought I would check what his end of the match talk would be....... "Delighted" he says???!!!!
After a 3-0 defeat?!
I then checked the Team Talk response from the players to my "Do it for the fans" speech. Yet again "Nothing specific noted"!!
Now what on earth is the point in having Team Talks and an Assistant Manager if a) the team talks mean absolutely nothing? and b) My Assistant Manager is more useless than useless??
Also this Board Confidence thing.. An 8 Match unbeaten run and they are merely "satisfied"!! Although the fans are miffed that I signed John Hartson on loan (to replace an injured Dean Ashton), and consider me poor in the Transfer Market..!
Harsh don't you think? considering the new (supposedly rich), West Ham owners only gave me 6 Million to spend, won't give me any more, and thanks to the games outrageous Transfer fees and the impossible situation with regard to making money by selling players left me with little choice!!!
Come on SI sort these silly situations out please!

Mine does pretty well, he tends to stray on the "disappointed" side during losses which I usually correct to sympathise. Sometimes when we're down 1-0 to an inferior team he will be harsh on them during half time but that's all.

I've just appointed him as my Ass man for Blackburn after Bowen soht off to be manager of WestBrom.
I can't say I think any of his teamtalks are bad for me. Mind you, I'm never on an 8match unbeaten run. But I did go from 3-0 down at the Emirates to lose 4-3 - not a bad effort.
I've always found that my team talks never have anything noted in the team response after match, so dont bother with the function

I had this turned off for most of 07 as it seemed to either do nothing or hurt my team. So either that's my fault for having zero coach-speak ability or the game wasn't handling it like it should have. With 08, I have turned this back on. Mainly due to the ease of asking the AssMan. What a difference one less click makes, I guess.
Still, the AssMan wants to nail the team to the wall at every chance. For a struggling L2 team, it's probably not the right approach. I generally click the advice button and have to change it. Seems off to me still, but I haven't investigated closely enough to know for sure. Being yourself as a manager and being consistent should bring some good results. I know players are different, but I believe what the feature is for is to be able to be hard or soft and have it affect the game.
So do all AssMans have the same approach, or is it down to their personalities?

Save PKMs of the matches that show this happening and post a thread in the bugs forum. You can save a PKM by visiting the match from your fixtures screen (as long as it wasn't too long ago)
I've been meaning to do it myself but whenever I've tried my assistant has bloody behaved himself
