I dont know if this question was asked before (as I am new to the forum) but how can I enforce the 45 minute per game instruction that I give when release players for international friendlies ? Every time these games come up I request that my more important players only play 45m per game and they end up playing the full game and it is doing my head in. The only option I see open to me at the moment is to withdraw the player altogether but I then risk upsetting the player concerned - please advise
I think it's just a guideline, rather than a rule. You can say that you prefer your player just to play 45 mins, but to be honest, the manager of the international team can do as he pleases.
If you're managing a nation and you leave a player on for a full match despite the fact his manager only wants him to play 45 minutes, they'll criticise you. However, if the situation is reversed, you can't comment on them. This is something I'd like to see in future.
